In order to raise funds to finance the printing of his book, the author Rabbi Yehoshua Z’ev Zissenvain (Avner) traveled in the 1890s from Jerusalem to Egypt, then England, and on to America, where he went up to Maine, down South, and to the Midwest. Upon returning to Jerusalem, he published his work along the names of the prenumerantn, i.e., pre-subscribers, listed by locality, and then suddenly passed away. His widow sent out copies of his book to the pre-subscribers accompanied with a letter appealing for support for the author’s family (image 247).
