    The author was born in Australia in 1860 and remarkably remained Sabbath observant his entire life. He was also the impetus for the publication of the Hertz Chumash (image 111), the classic Hebrew-English edition of the Five Books of Moses with an English commentar. It was only work of its kind available for decades and was the mainstay of English-speaking synagogues of every denomination for decades.
