A short paragraph expounding the great merit of the study of the Mishnah, followed by the statutes of the society. The statutes were signed on Tuesday during the Ten Days of Repentance in 5623 (September 26, 1922). Examples of the statutes: The society members will gather daily to study a chapter or part thereof of Mishnah at a designated time in the morning or evening; a festive meal will be conducted upon completion of an order of the Mishnah; and the designated chapters will be studied in honor of the memory of their departed members. Following the transcription of the signatories, the names of the members of the society are recorded in alphabetical order. The names of only a few members are listed on each page, with many pages remaining blank. There are a number of pages dedicated to the memory of donors or their family members. An example of such a dedication page: Ester, the daughter of Pinkhas, Rotberg donated a six-branched crystal candelabra to the synagogue, which shall be lit in memory of her deceased relatives (as listed) on the anniversaries of their deaths. [Image 21]
